Our story
After doing a pre-qualification for mechanical engineering at Otago Polytechnic, Jesse was hired by a company in Dunedin servicing compressors and hydraulics, and building drilling rigs. After completing his apprenticeship, he took over the majority of rig builds and maintenance.
In 2016 Jesse started Ranger Drilling Supplies, dedicated solely to the supply and maintenance of drilling equipment. After establishing himself as the go-to supplier for drilling equipment, he spent five years in Christchurch which enabled him to have a greater exposure to larger projects. This came with opportunities to create solutions for unique work sites.

Waimea Community Dam
At the beginning of 2020, we were approached to provide a water based solution for drilling of a grout curtain. After researching how to best meet the needs of the site we are able to source an LKAB Wassara W70 Extra straight Water DTH system and WASP 80 High pressure pump. We then modified our customers Marini MR-C20 to work on the Dam’s 30deg slopes with winch, offset power pack and Wassara swivel. We have been providing ongoing rebuild and maintenance program for the Wassara W70 System.
Milford Road
In 2019 the the Milford Road Alliance planned to install a new rockfall barrier. To provide the needed support, we travelled to the project to worked alongside Downer. We trained the team in the operation of our hire grout pump whilst they installed our Minova R38 Twincoat Hollow Bar.

Kaikoura SH1 SR30 Slip
Following the devastating Kaikoura earthquake in 2016 Ranger Drilling Supplies were engaged to build up several rope access rigs, supply grout pumps and powerpacks. This was the one of the largest active slope facing projects at the time which created a challenging work site requiring experience and effective job solutions. We were engaged to provide onsite SDA training and maintenance services for the duration of the project.
